Loadspace extension mat £20 + £6.90 delivery |
|
Noticed this price on Duckworth ebay page, the extension mat for the rubber loadspace mat. £20 now delivery extra £6.90 (it was free when originally posted), a lot cheaper then other prices around £160.

Glad it came in useful for some people. I have updated the original post now as it is now showing £6.90 delivery instead of free.

Do these work in a non-commercial for when you have the seats fully flat ? I've never had a look at how the commercials work.

I've been meaning to reply to this thread for a while and was reminded today why.
I've had one of these extensions for a while now, a genuine LR one, and yes Sundayjumper they do work well in a 7-seater with the second row of seats folded flat.
My D4 has the second row of seats folded flat nearly all the time, and only gets turned into a 5 or 7 seater when needed, it can sometimes spend months as a 2 seater.
But there is one small warning about their use.
I assume anyone who has the normal short loadspace rubber mat has found out that if you are away from home and need to raise the 3rd row of seats the short loadspace mat will roll up behind the 3rd row of seats in the remaining small bootspace.
I've done that lots of times over the years with my D3 and D4.
But, be warned, this extension mat is quite a large thing, quite a bit wider then the boot area as it has wings into the rear door areas, and is made of a rubber that is nowhere near as flexible as the main mat.
If you have it fitted with the 2nd row of seats down and wish to raise them, the mat really has nowhere to go.
It's too big to lay flat either widthways or lengthways in the normal boot area with the 2nd row seats raised, and it will not roll up as tightly as the main mat, so ends up being quite a big thing to carry in the boot area if you can't leave it behind.
If you had it in the car and wanted to go from 2 seats to 7 seats you will really struggle to store it behind the 3rd row seats.
It's not something I've had to do as I've always been at home when converting to 7 seats, so it was decanted to the garage, but it might even be impossible to take it with you.
. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Nasher is completely correct here. I bought one because I couldn't say no at this price. My car stays in 5-seat configuration almost all of the time and now I don't know what to do with this mat 🤣 It's laid out on the dining room floor right now but that won't fly over Christmas.
If you leave it leaning up against a wall it'll probably take on a permanent kink.
On a non-commercial there's also some gaps between the middle & rear seats where the mat could do with support so I'm pondering cutting the mat in half along the centreline of the car and gluing it to some thin-ish ply with fabric stuck to the back to make a hinge.

We always keep thick cardboard in the garage.
Shape it as we need it, been doing it for years in all our cars, protects the capet/ surface very well.
Put it in the recycling bin when not fit for purpose and bring out the next
