Location of Webasto Timer - Pics Needed |
|
Ok, got the Legend TFC to service the D3 soon, whether it goes or not I decided to ensure the service schedule is maintained anyway.
Whilst Iain is here I have asked for the Timer and Remote to be fitted to the FBH, like I said it either can aid the sale of the D3 or help me when it gets cold again.
So, where have you guys fitted the timer?

No pics mac but fitted mine in the spare box on the o/s/f and ran all the wires neatly hidden with the wiring loom which runs along the scuttle panel trim
The timer is connected to the remote box (Got from buellbeast ) so no wires going inside

So you set the timer under the bonnet. Not a bad idea and didnt think of that. Not sure where TFC will put mine, I have opted for the remote key fob so it doesnt matter where it goes, just unsure of the size of the oval timer and options where to fit it.
Thank you

Mines fitted in the aux battery box and the wires run along the scuttle panel. A very neat install and now operated by GSM

Mines remote
No setting required , just hit the remote in the house and it roars into action

If you're not going to need access to it for manual setting, under the bonnet would be sensible. If you do need to set it, I think that on the headlining by the front light "cluster" is a popular spot. (Can't recall who posted a snap of one located there.) I personally cant see any need for mounting it within the car as the remote/gsm operation really does away with the need to set the timer function.
Make sure you ask TFC to set the default fire setting to 45mins or more for more effective heating, default is only 30

I have these timers in my truck, coolant and cabin heated nicely when I get to work.
I know the D3 does'nt warm the cabin (that was something they could'nt work), but engine coolant prewarmed would be very nice, remote from bedroom window as I jump out of bed will do nicely as I dont get up the same time daily, or use the D3 daily.

You should still have plenty of room in the aux battery box for it. You could always remove the alarm sounder it defaults to the horns if it's not present and the horns are a lot louder. It's been my first mod on all my D3's

There would be enough room to but it on top of the battery still enabling the lid to close or if not should have room down by the FBH itself

The alarm sounder went to allow the light relays to be moved, to allow the battery to be fitted! there might be space as you say, Iwill have to see how big the gsm box is. I was hoping there might be space somewhere down at the front near the webasto to avoid running wires

I had the remote i sold to Tawny fitted on top on the main battery with some velcro plenty of room to get the cover back on
There is also a space in front of the airbox behind the o/s headlamp
