Lockdown To Do List

Hi,

I am thinking that at some point I am probably going to have to spend a couple of weeks at home. I am a spark and work is already starting to dwindle, so either way I will probably have some time on my hands. SWMBO will / does have a massive list of gardening stuff she wants doing, but I would rather have a list of things I need to do on the car..

So my list so far bearing in mind I am watching the pennies:

1. EGR Blank - already have the kit just not done yet
2. Gear box and Diff oil change - have the oils just not done yet
3. Bits of surface rust - have some smoothrite and going to get a touch up kit ordered
4. Try the amp bypass wiring loom with a stereo I already have. I dont have the trim, but that can wait
5. Maybe get underneath and start cleaning up the rust and painting with Smoothrite
6. Good clean and polish, inside and out

any suggestions? What are you planning? I want to have as much as possible so I dont have to clean the decking, plant seeds etc

All advice and sensible Rolling with laughter suggestions appreciated

I had already bought new suspension arms, for all round, and had planned a few days off to do it! Seems it might be a good time to get on with it now!

Are they the same for the D3? Is it a good cheap job to get out of the way?

Follow the links. £20 and 10 minutes each side from what I have read.

I understand they are identical (D3 and D4) Thumbs Up

If it somes to it I may even get the D3 on stands and refurb the wheels. Just need to buy some tyre irons and and paint. I was toying with the tyre irons anyway so maybe an option.

Just so happens I have a Mini Cooper on the drive with a hole in the block & in the garage have a nice shinny painted Cooper engine Thumbs Up

SWMBO is talking about painting but doors light fittings get a bit as well doesn't go round with damp cloth whilst it's wet Big Cry Big Cry

Get rear view camera completed, fit door mirror covers fitted not chrome ones but do have indicator & puddle lights, fit mud guards, replace front fog light & possibly swap to new to me Gloss black wheels Thumbs Up

Going to change the two serpentine belts. Also should do a transmission flush. Finally I want to add a BT head unit to my classic car as I've been sitting on this job for 2 years and still haven't got to it.

Need to see if I can still get the serpentine belts and transmission fluid under current conditions. (And I need the fancy tool for taking the tension off the belts...). Amazon here are limiting normal shopping and prioritizing key products so normal kit delivery dates are well into April for some things.

What are the advantages of swapping these? I dont have an issue yet, but if its an issue that may come up, its a cheap job and less gardening!!

Because over time they buckle, distort and let a ton of crud get behind the wheel arch liner (as shown in the second link).

If yours look OK leave well alone Thumbs Up

I got some Dot4 today so I can change my brake fluid over the weekend.
Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

Wire brush the chassis and put this stuff on

https://www.gaelforcemarine.co.uk/en/Ferta...-4874.aspx

You can then leave it for upto 9 months before top coating with hammerite but i would leave it a couple of months until we have warm weather.
