England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Bonatti GreyDiscovery 3

Hey lads,
Fortune struck last week, I had arranged for a mobile glazer to come out & remove glass & replace on drivers door. So I could get in, however the weather turned really bad and glazer went off to other jobs which were indoors, so I went on you tube ( as you do) and found a site on how to get into locked cars, this comprised of a few simple items one of which I made in the shed , I tried this method described and I got in!! I couldn't believe it, so I called the glazer and cancelled him, it was so simple to do, anyway having got in I investigated the wiring inside the L/H front sill as posted on these sites, I found the 3 green/white wires and the end bullet crimp, I cut this open and found all 3 wires had corroded, I stripped back and connected the ends together and now my central locking is working again, I did notice a fair amount of water in the sill which had soaked into the loom and rotted the ribbon wrapping, I cleaned this out and dried everything, not sure where the water is coming from so I've left the trim off for now to check further. I would like to thank everyone on the forum for their advice on this problem, it has been very helpful.

I have a similar problem with the key fobs and although I got into the car, via the front passenger door, and both keys started the car they still won't lock/unlock or alarm/disarm the car. Obviously both keys are programmed to the car, otherwise it wouldn't have started, so must be a problem with the car?? Evil or Very Mad Both fobs have been charged after a 50 mile drive and don't really want to go to LR. Any further ideas please

You probably need to find and repair the green wire splice in the passenger side cable tray. Thumbs Up

Hello Tillerman,

It’s been a few years since this thread, are you still around?

I’m now locked out of my 05 D3 with all the same symptoms you described and I’m hoping you can share a little info on how you gained access before I too consider going through a window.

I’ve put power through the key fob to no avail, passenger lock doesn’t feel seized but is non responsive and I already know full well the floor on that side is soaking wet.

Any light you or anyone else can shed will be much appreciated indeed.

In the meantime I’ll keep searching for clues.

Phill
