Locking car - am I missing something ?

Two weeks into owning my MY12 D4 I am not sure if I have a problem with the driver door lock.

I have set up the key to be single unlock which I believe should open all the doors and de activate the car alarm with one press of the unlock button on the key

However when pressing unlock once all the doors and tailgate unlock with the exception of the drivers door. I need to press the unlock button again to unlock the driver door

Can anyone advise me as to if I am being dumb or is my understanding of how the lock works correct and I have a problem with the driver lock

If so I will be back to the dealer for repair under warranty

Thanks in anticipation

Sounds like a sticking lock. 2 stage unlocking would open the drivers door first, then the rest.

Just to complicate matters the car is now doing the following

1) on single stage unlock opening all doors except drivers which opens on second press of key

2) on two stage unlocking opens the driver door on first press and all other doors on second

3 ) on locking the car the power fold wing mirrors no longer fold in

4 ) on second press locking a small beep is heardafew seconds after the car locks which I assume is the alarm setting - is this correct or is it a warning something is amiss ?

Never had this problem on my old D3 which I am beginning to regret swapping

As an aside does anyone us S mode and if so does it impact on mpg significantly ?

You say that you have "set up the key." Have you also been to the car "SET UP" menu.

Might help if not maybe a hard reset will clear it.

You have the exact same symptoms I had on my D4 just after buying it - the door lock in the drivers door is fubar'd.

The bleep noise you hear is the car telling you it is not locked, as is the fact the mirrors don't fold in. If you get the bleep noise odds are that the 3 passenger doors & tailgate will be locked if you try the handles but if you then try the drivers door it'll open & the alarm will go off.

I found that if I kept trying I could get the door to lock properly about once in every 10-12 attempts. When it did lock then I'd need to press the unlock button twice to get the drivers door to unlock.

Time for a trip to the dealers!

I can tell you with absolute confidence that the lock actuator on your drivers door has failed. I just replaced both a front and a rear actuator on my disco3. The parts are about £130 each, and the job takes about 3-4 hours to do, and is very fiddly! My tip to make it less fiddly is to take off the external door handles when you do this. Take care when removing the (internal) handle from the door card as there are plastic tabs which will want to break off. At least I know how to plastic weld abs using an acetone mix now....
