locking Diff

ordered the new Disco 4 today Razz can not wait to see what it pulls 2T of caravan like. I wish LandRover would do a locking Diff for the front as well Sad you never know when you will need the extra traction. Very Happy

It's hard to miss the fact that there is 2000kg attached to the back of the D4. The "not there" statements are a bit of a stretch. You know it's there. It just doesn't matter because the D4 is just a dam fine Tow Vehicle.

Have a search for difflock on the site. There are lots of posts. It is not a lock as such but a viscous coupling which becomes more viscous when needed. It is engaged by the terrain response electronics - there is no manual override.

It comes in when the car needs it regardless of any settings

Despite some people saying it can be triggered I have only ever been able to get mine to light in extreme(ish) situations (like very close to being stuck or being cross axled with poor traction).

Its an hydraulic clutch that is made to slip less when needed. A stepper motor driven by an ecu turns a wedge plate to increase the pressure on the plates to reduce slip.
