"London" Airports rant
Since when has Southend been near London? It's 'London'-Southend airport. It's 42 miles away.
Same goes for 'London'-Stansted (35 miles) and 'London'-Luton (35 miles).
Bad enough with Heathrow (14 miles) and Gatwick (28 miles), they're not exactly London either.
Ought to be taken to task under the Trades Descriptions Act.
Mind you, Ryanair, Wizzair and Blue air list "Paris" Beauvais airport. That's a whopping 56 miles away. There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.

Where would you like them to be? Fill in the Thames and stick a runway in?
You can fly from City if Heathrow is too far. Most major city airports and not in the center of the City.

No, I would like them not to be prefixed "London" because they aren't.There are two rules for success,

Fairly sure there was a Ryanair destination airport in the Nordics that didn't even land in the same country as the city it was purported to be for.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Back in the day Ryanair used to say Helsinki but the airport they used was Tampere... 180 km away.
They also used to state “Brussels” and meant CRL (Charleroi) instead of BRU (Zaventem).

FWIW the distance from Tokyo to Narita (NRT) is 70-ish km and everyone is clear that they still mean Tokyo even though there is also Haneda (HND) downtown.
Similarly there is GMP and ICN in Seoul.
I liked the over the roof tops approach to the old Hong Kong airport (Kai tak)

Well LBA is not in Bradford city or even in the Bradford council area but is in Leeds LS27.
Admittedly it is about 9 miles to Bradford city centre and about 7 miles from Leeds centre. Nor does it have a train link to either Leeds or Bradford.

"LONDON East Midlands Airport" here we come. High speed rail link - HS2 will run next to it so should be a perfectly acceptable name according to the convention. There are two rules for success,

London Midland trains used to have the same effct on me, given 95% of its services were around the west midlands, just a couple of trains went down to london via Northampton, but it seems that its not important if it doesnt have "london" in the name.
rant over

I have Brum airport about 18 miles away or East Midlands about 55 miles away. Due to EM being tiny their furthest carpark is about 400m away from terminal and they are not manned by who couldn’t give a which carousel they may, or may not, throw your cases on when they can be ar$ed to get off their lazy ar$es and do their job.....
If you can’t tell, I don’t like BHX if you have hold luggage.
Door-to-door is quicker from East Mids and parking is cheaper, although I didn’t have to pay often at BHX I rather would than rely on the useless who couldn’t give a at BHX ......

If they'd put the airport in either Leeds or Bradford, it would have been stolen and found burnt out near Wakefield by now. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

And you could look into the apartments on a final approach!
Also the drop off into Kowloon Bay on a south east departure from the old Kai Tak... You know it was extended so much into the bay that if you skidded off the runway it would have required deep sea divers to recover everything.LeighW
The old girl is on her third engine...
