London Ambulance Disco 4
Where I work (this isn't what I specifically work on), there's a few guys who get to take London Ambulance vehicles apart and kit them up with new comms equipment, radios, light's etc. Usually it's BMW's and Skoda Octavias they work on.
So I got to the office at the weekend and found this in the bay:
Sadly even if I'd wanted to I couldn't take it for a drive as the front lights and grille were all out of the car.Skoda 120 - sold
Sierra 1.6 - scrapped
Polo - sold
Volvo 240 GLE Saloon Auto - sold
Montego 2.0 Diesel estate - scrapped after it rusted away
Volvo 740 GLE Estate - Pxed for the A-Class, scrapped
Mercedes A160 Auto - Sold after the Autobox went wonky
Suzuki SX4 Aerio - PXed to dealer after 2 1/2 years.
Suzuki SX4 2.0 DDIS IAWD - Sold to WBAC.com
Corsa 1.4 SXi - Until my company Qashqai arrives.

No roof antennae - how do they get radio comms to work?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
Emergency and LR reliability, now there's an interesting combination

Maybe it's just in to have the comms fitted so they haven't fitted the antennae yet Cheers Ian

I don't know specifically what they do with these cars, because I don't work for the part of the company that does the installs/refits. They just use part of the building I work out of as their workshop/bay.
I haven't taken any more pics of the kit, mainly because this one appeared to be mid-refit. The headlamp clusters were on the front seats, among other things. By the time I get back to work at the start of my next shift though, this one will be gone Skoda 120 - sold

South Central Ambulance Service (Oxon, Bucks area) also use these as fast response vehicles, they look the bis when they're in full flight with the blues/twos going.
A friend who is one of their senior managers gets a D4 as a company car, still gets all the lights etc but without the stripes.
They are 'police spec' GS's.Nick
2010 D4 ....... now gone and replaced with a 05RRV Autobiography

There are a few Ambulance D4's around here too. The ones I have seen also have raised air intakes fitted.
