How long should my D3 brake pads last
I just had me rear brake pads replaced at the 12 month service, and now at the 18 month service am told I need the front pads replaced. The dealer says thats normal - but comes as a big suprise to me. Can anyone please tell me how long their pads last.
Many thanks
Wade.

I got 28k miles out of the first set. Both front and rear needed changing.
I part-ex'd my D3 with the original pads & discs still on at 75,000 miles!

as Gareth says they should last 30K - but it depends - if you used HDC a lot they will wear out very quickly - I got through 3mm of pads in 4 days a couple of years ago.
Are the discs scored ? , that will reduced the pad life by several thousand milesDuncan

The D3 is a pretty heavy thing to stop.... and indeed HDC and all those funny "control items" are virtually eating up the pads... so be ready to replace them often and do so happily ! There are no Heady duty pads, no racing/raid thingies... the only option is changing them from time to time... Besides buckling up this is the cheapest safety move you may do...
Have fun!

I had new pads in Sept, looked at them the other day and they will need doing soon. Probably about 8,000 miles?
It does get used off road though and if it's somewhere Sandy then you might as well stick grinding paste on the discs as it does the same thing.D3 HSE MY05 Auto
