Hi. looking to buy a Disco 4 in the next month or so. currently have a ford ranger that's lasted a whole month but just don't like it so i'm on the look out for a Disco.
Will be looking at a 2012 onwards with 100k+ for my budget. they seem to make reasonable money on fleabay for the ones that actually sell.
Question is are they really as unreliable as people make out? I've have a 3.6 RRS and that was ok just bottom arm bushes. i'm ok with doing work myself. What are the important things to look out for?
thanks lee

Tough question to answer. Its a second hand car and you have to take a punt on how well the previous owner has looked after it (and by that I mean spent money on it )
If you buy from a forum member (see advert above) then it is more likely that the car will have been well loved and maintained.
If you do a search on here about buying a D4 you will get differing opinions but it is a great, versatile car. Also bear in mind that the majority of posts on this forum are from members who have encountered problems, those who have no problems tend not to post "car running great/nothing wrong" as we all know that this is the kiss of death
Good luck with your searching Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Blackvue front & rear dashcam
Cruise control switch pack

I've had them from 2005 but no longer. Do I think they are a good car? No they are a great car. Are they as problematic as their reputation? Not in my experience. Find one that has been cared for and carry on caring for it and usually it will look after you. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
