Looks Like RIP Fleetwood Heritage
Our van is in for a service before our summer jaunt to Pembrokeshire. A phone call this morning has been a bit of a shock. The van is 12 years old, owned from new, we've had a few damp issues in the past but for the last year it has been stored in our new barn so we thought this might improve especially with the hot weather.
The engineer called to say the floor has had it 90% moisture at the front but over 30% over the rest. It would need a whole new floor costing thousands I guess. Absolutely gutted. So many happy memories with my late parents and the kids when they were young. It still looks in great nick. They have said it will be safe to use it this time but it will be the last. Has it got a water leak internally? I'd be surprised if it got that damp while being stored inside.Richard

Oh, ok, so it sounds like a an awning rail or window leak. Or even the front locker door.Richard

It has over the years had all the roof vents redone, the front join on the roof and the rear, most of the windows too and both awning rails.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

You know what’s coming! ...... get a lorry and you can take the horse on holiday with you!
We did it at Xmas and took horses to sisters farm and stayed in the truck over the holiday period! You know it makes sense! Lol!

We already do that in the New Forest, I tow the caravan and Lynn tows the trailer, or she did until the Freelander went! I think I need a chat with you at some stage, she isn't happy to drive a conventional 7.5 ton, but likes the look of the motor home styled 5.5/6.5t lorries.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

If you were thinking off one of the Equitrek ones definately give us a ring.... girls had hired one before we built ours and missus was quite shocked how it handled...
Have a look at Freddie Gover Horseboxes... they are built locally and they also compete with us and use their own products on events... hence they know what they are talking about... they have designed a clever one which has an overnight sleeper bed in the pod....

The first trailer I towed was an Equitrek, it wasn’t too bad to tow but not as good as the IW 505, we have also looked at the IW version but I think there are too many compromises.
TBH I’m a bit flummoxed with what chassis (DAF Merc etc) mileage running costs and so on. The older lorries are much cheaper but heavier so don’t have the payload newer ones have and so on. The good news is that the caravan isn’t quite so dead as we first thought, but it still doesn’t really alleviate the issue that Bethany is qualifying for stuff we can’t get to DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Quite happy to sit with you over a pint to discuss.. you are at the same spot I was 3/4 years ago...lots of permutations which need to be considered.... HGV/LGV, how many horses, living accommodation, power/economy and all of them a compromise with cost/practicality...
Would love a 26 t Lehel but would we use just popping up the road for a lesson? Could you get it up the lanes etc etc... really happy with ours and virtually does all the things we would want from it... but if we weren’t staying away a 3/4 tonner would be more practical cost effective...
We could have a discussion when you pick up the horse? ......

Horses + Horse Lorry = no money
Or maybe it’s the cars that are the problem
Either way we wouldn’t be without any of them Lynn is more than welcome to drive ours sometime if it helps deliberations? Maybe up in the park or a PC camp if your daughter is going this year?

Ain’t that the truth I heard all about your lorry and Molly’s 26t monster we’ve been to an affiliated competition today and parked next to a Freddie Gover lorry, had a chat with the chap, I think Ian had spoken to him too as said exactly what Ian had said a few posts above.
I keep trying to explain to Bethany than I’m only a poor IFA not a YouTube star We aren’t doing camp but I’m sure Lynn would love to have a closer look at your lorry now we are starting to get more of a plan and idea. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
