Loss of power and hesitation from engine - black smoke

Hello all,

This is my first post on a forum Smile

I have a 07 Disco 3, HSE 2.7TD. Recently experiencing loss of power, hesitation and juddering (along with a low pitch whistling noise) between the 2-3000rpm stage. You can accelerate through it, though you then get clouds of dark grey smoke.

So far I have had a full EGR removal and remap. Intercooler hose replacement. Turbo inspection (I'm told by 2 seperate dealers that is fine) though the problem still remains. I am now at a loss and am getting quite down over the whole thing Sad

Could someone share their expertise on what this may be? I feel like I am missing something...

Thanks
Dan

Try searching on here for the turbo actuator and read up as you have done some of the other things that normally cause your symptons not suprised the deler cant find it.No code and they are next to useless also some people have had the intercooler split but not sure if that wouls apply though if the whistling is loud then look and make sure the hoses are attached properly Thumbs Up

I would re check the intercooler pipe, its classic crack in the pipe symptoms, also check it is tight at the bottom and not allowing air in.

I had something similar and it turned out to be a split in my Alisport intercooler.

Split hose
Just done this on dads RRS he phoned me saying when I’m towing the caravan home and coast then hit the gas it’s belching black smoke
It was the hose from bottom off intercooler to engine top
£46 for new hose
Have a look it was split at the top joint but out of site as it was on the back of the hose
Bit of a clue was oily film on engine cover drivers side

If it's not the hose consider the intercooler, look for oil staining on the faces
