Lost Coolant, 1 incident of smoke+bubbles in coolant tank
Morning all
So having recently fixed the restricted performance issue on my 2010 Disco 4, I now have a new issue to fix
2 days ago, I got some pale white smoke on idle following a 10 minutes school run.
Then yesterday, following another 20 minute drive, the car failed to start (was turning over but not starting - not a battery issue as I just replaced it and voltage was showing at 12.2V) It did start eventually on subsequent attempts.
After the 2nd leg of yesterday's journey, I got a low coolant warning (I've previously replaced the expansion tank, so I know the sensor is not faulty).
So upon reading and searching on this great forum, I have checked the following:
* Checked the oil filler cap - No milky stuff on the oil cap -
* Coolant expansion bottle - there are definitely bubbles attached to the inside wall, not sure if that's normal (see pic below)
* Checked the coolant pipes - No obvious sign of a coolant leak.
Fault codes - saw this not sure if it is related or what it means for that matter.

just on the inside of the filler neck you can see bubbles, and when the engine was running I could see bubbles coming in on the return pipe too.
Reading on the forum there are two things that I have seen others mention:-
1) blown gasket
2) EGR coolers leaking
So I wanted to ask, does anyone know where these coolers are located (I'm praying it's that and not a head gasket!)
Also does carrying out a block test confirm that it is the head gasket? or would a leaking egr cooler also yield the same result? ie exhaust gases would contaminate the coolant either from the egr cooler or the head.
