Have you tried North West Transmissions in Bootle used them a few times for manual boxes but I know a few people who have used them for automatic transmissions "Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag'em down to your level. It's cheaper".

He can't say exactly what it is till he looks at it. So the plan is if it don't sell get it over to him.
I'll keep you posted.
Best wishes
Scott

Scott , I would get it over to him ASAP , because if it turns out to be a simple less costly repair youre going kick yourself , See if they do a collection service .

Thinking back (that hurt lol) I had a range rover that made a hell of a racket when engaging park and lost all drive , it sheared a UJ on the front propshaft ,
So just maybe yours could have terminal damage in the transfer box or something along those lines ,
A transfer box is a relatively easy to swap out .

Have you checked the fluid is OK and up to level when the Gearbox is up to temperature - the fact it overheated could signal a fluid leak Must stop buying shiny toys....

It turned out to be the front propshaft. New one fitted now driving again. I've got it up for sale on here.

MrBullet131 wrote:, it now also makes a grinding sound when selecting park.
I have checked the driveshafts and they all appear solid
Have someone sit in the car and hold the brakes firmly and put it in Drive
Have a look underneath and the propshafts. If the front or rear shaft is spinning, then you most likely have a blown CV joint. Very common, especially on the front axle
If there is no motion on either propshaft, then suspect transfer case issues
The grinding noise when you select Park is the locking pawl grinding against the (spinning) output shaft
