Low battery & door locking (IID errors)

I've recently been getting low battery messages on the my disco which I assume is due to me doing a lot of short journeys recently.

Just this week i've been unable to lock the car in some instances and when it does lock i'm unable to unlock the drivers door (meaning I have to open it from the passenger side).

I've ordered a new battery which should be here today but I was just after some advice on if the two issues could be related and if there are any special procedure for changing the battery on a D4?

Below are the error logs from IID

Quite normal with tired battery

Full charge (or change) it and do a car ECUs reset with the IIDTool

Thanks for the reply, i've just changed the battery and i've done the change battery procedure on the IID tool as well as clearing faults on the ECU but i'm still unable to lock the car.

Also now the mirrors do not fold in when locked either and the car just beeps twice when you try to lock it.

The doors remain unlocked but when you open them the alarm sounds.

Here are the new errors since clearing:

When you say do a car ECU reset is that battery change in IID tool or am I missing something?

C1B15-15 is related to the rear door windows motor

U201B-54 says that the steering column configuration is missing

Try the RESET funcion and let me know.....

The car is a Discovery Commercial so that explains the rear window motors Laughing

I have done the ECU reset now and it is still not locking but now I have a new fault

Yes last test is a hard reset

1. lower the driver's window then remove the key

2. close all doors, including the tailgate

3. wait a minimum of 2 minutes, then check through the window that the park brake warning light, NAV screen & clock display are all off

4. remove the -ve terminal first, making sure that it can't spring back to the battery

5. remove the +ve terminal.

6. For a hard reset: Protect the exposed battery terminals with plastic caps or a rubber mat then short the Positive & Negative CABLES only together.

If they won’t reach each other use a jumper wire or, less desirably, grab a screw driver & place across the ends of the cables

...REMEMBER...
not to short the BATTERY TERMINALS.

Leave shorted cables connected together for a minimum of a 5 minutes to discharge capacitors etc.

7. Replace the +ve terminal, ensuring it is properly seated at the base of the tapered terminal so it cannot be moved once re-torqued.

8. Refit the -ve terminal, ensuring as far as possible that it makes good contact first time, you may get a small 'arc' as the terminal contacts the battery, nothing to worry about, it's just the vehicle 'waking up'.

I've tried a hard reset today, the mirrors started working for a short time afterwards and I managed to lock the drivers door, it then wouldn't unlock afterwards.

I assume it must be something unrelated to the battery issue.

I think this is the error I got when my door actuator packed up and the beeps after locking back that up - they are basically telling you the car isn't locked.

Search forum for instruction replacement guide Thumbs Up
