Lower tailgate

Can you lock the lower tailgate whilst keeping the upper open

I know how to lock the car and keep the boot open, but it would be good to lock the bottom half if possible

if you mean via the central locking - No (unless you fool the lock into thinking it is closed)

thanks, im not surprised...but it is annoying.

I can get it so doors etc are locked but the top part of the tailgate open, i just wanted to see if it could be told the bottom part is closed and lock it. I might have a play around to see - but i bet it will just have a door not closed fit.

Does the lower tailgate actually lock though? As the opening button is hidden with the top tailgate closed, why would it need to? and not much point it locking with the top tailgate open.. Out of interest, why do you want to lock the lower tailgate and not the upper?

When the rear is open, its all opened at the back but the doors still locked

I want the upper open to allow the dogs fresh air, advantage of keeping the bottom shut, their cage cant be opened (even though it locks) b) cant/no chance of the cage being lifted out or removed if the bottom tailgate is locked c) perimeter alarm still remains etc etc - so its mainly for the dogs

There is a after market device available that allows the top to be open a few inches and locks, it's a kind of link rod, try a search Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

If you trip the catch for the upper section that is in the top edge of the lower section (use a key or similar to push it) you can then lock the car and the bottom locks closed even though you can get at the button.

Just don't forget to reset it buy pressing the open button on the top once unlocked before you close it

I do this for our spaniel when he is in his cage.

I've seen this done with a dog lead that has a trigger hook on one end and a closed ring on the other. But the release button on the lower tailgate will still unlock it though.
I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.
