As of August I think.
My approved used LR was bought at the end of September and came with the remaining full warranty (it was 2.5 years old) and supposedly an extended warranty to make it up to a year in total. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

It wasn’t good news, although it’s only brought it into line with LR’s major competitors, like BMW, who have only ever offered 1 year, or Volvo who won’t cover anything of theirs, under their manufacturer’s extended warranty, beyond an absolute maximum of a laughable 4 years and 80,000 miles.
You can at least extend and the used Approved cars do seem to have dropped in price at the same time that it went from 2 years, to 1 year. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Neither, by that argument, do BMW or Mercedes (all 1 year) or Volvo.
Length of warranty has very little to do with “faith in product” and everything to do with how much a manufacturer wishes to set aside to pay for the warranty. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I never said “all”. Which compatible manufacturer offers more than a 1 year, no cost, warranty on their used cars as standard and which like LR, BMW & Mercedes offer 1 year?
PS: Audi’s two year offering is only on their newest used cars and then it’s a limited time (not permanent) offering, while VW can be as little as 6 months. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Think warranty is offered to match what Jo Public perceive the brand to be like.
If public view it as unreliable, then manufacturer offer longer warranties. Landrover did this some years back with the Range Rover, when it had a very bad rep offering a five yr warranty.
Toyota increased it to 5 years after the braking issues in its cars.
Those perceived more reliable don't need to prove or sell anything extra D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Not strictly true IMO.
I do believe that as well as reducing the warranty on approved used LR’s to one year, LR also increased the age for approved used vehicles.
So for example you can now buy a FL2 from a main dealer with a years LR approved used warranty. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Wasn’t it Car Care Plan who did the warranty anyway? If so it would be more that they couldn’t insure it at a sensible price. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
