LR Sat Nav v TomTom Go 930

I have only had my D3 for about a month - but have found the LR SatNav to be, IMHO, inferior to my old TomTom Go 930T.

The routeing doesn't seem to be so good, I can't add POIs, and of course it doesn't have IQRoutes and Advanced Lane Guidance.

I was told by a stealer that the LR SatNav does have RDS-TMC but I can't see that it has. Certainly when the TomTom recommends a change of route due to, say, an accident, the LR system did not. Do I have to do something to activate the LR RDS-TMC ?

Finally, if as I fear, I decide not to use the LR SatNav, is there some way of switching off the display, or can I use it for some other purpose?

TIA.

TMC only comes with Premium Nav so presumably you've got Standard

to be honest njss it's not just LR that make not so good as tomtom nav, tomtom make satnav for a living, it's what they do, nothing else, LR make 4x4's it's what they do, the nav is always going to be inferior unless it's a tomtom system they put in,

of all the cars i've used with built in sat nav NONE of them are as good as tomtom, but as i said, it's ALL that they do so it's only right,

I use the LR satnav for most but will be putting the new tomtom onto the iphone as i can then use the cradle for hands free callign as well as charging and nav back up...

just have to get in a navara to see how bad nav can be, no post code option etc etc.

if tomtom made land rovers i wouldnt expect them to be as good as a discovery.. Whistle

Slimer - many thanks.

I assume that I must have Standard Nav, but the stealer said when I bought the car that the nav system had TMC.

How can I tell Premium Nav from Standard please?

ad15 - good point well made; but why don't LR buy in TomTom expertise like Toyota & Renault have?

probably becuase they've speant so much money on the rest of the electrical wizardry that the choice was to save a penny or two elsewhere,

i'd love it if they did go tomtom route, not holding my breath though,

sorry for the double post, not sure what happened there...
