Lr4 electrical issues, hvac, infotainment speedometer, radio
Hows everybody doing? I'm a long time lurker and first time poster from united states
I have a 2010 Lr4 hd hse v8 with 105000 miles which i owed for 6 years, I do my own maintenance (oil change, brake rotor, brake pad, alternator)
My car starts and drives with no issues but the instrument cluster, hvac, radio system, parking assist, etc doesn't work at all.
I refused to bring the car to the dealer but this time i might have to if i cant fix the issue. Any help will be helpful. Thank you
The car was neglected for a few years and had a sunroof leak which i believe caused a lot of issues.
So what i did to the car is far
sunroof leak is repaired,
replaced the battery with h8 interstate agm, changed ccf battery type with iidtool
replaced alternator with a new denso dan1103
checked the ground points and bcm connectors.
Here are the fault list given from the IIDTOOL BT

The lost comms ones are meaningless. I get them frequently.
Change of battery may have caused the others???
Is it worth clearing them and seeing if they re-appear?Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

Check under the carpet / foam on whichever side you had the water leak for corroded splices in the wiring harness, pull off the plastic sill trims, pull back the carpet and you'll see the black harness protector / containment. Check under there for water ingress or evidence of harness corrosion. The DTC's don't point to one specific area unfortunately. As already suggested, clear and re-read after a drive cycle
'U' codes are not meaningless if there are CAN faults, look at the affected modules interconnects, there are splices in the various CAN networks where spurs are taken to modules, it should be relatively simple to work out which module is losing comms from the 'missing messages' in the other modules. All you have to do then is find the splice....
ETA All the HVAC DTC's relate to LIN's, not CAN - single wire and unlikely to be moisture induced given their position on the vehicle. Clear, road test & re-read....

Thank you for the suggestions guys, i pulled out my carpets partially and door sills.
Checked continuity all the twisted pairs that had a splice on it, found one splice with black tape by the rear passenger seat that was corroded but wasn't the culprit.
i pulled out most of the panels to see any corrosion on the electronic modules.
I cleaned out all the ground points that were rusted also.
I clear the ecu, hard reset with the battery terminals shorted, many times.
Any more suggestions?

Try the bad earth strap test?
If the earth to body starts to fail/corrode it throws all sorts of problems. Get a jump lead and attach the negative to a new earth place or on the engine block and try resetting everything.
If you’ve had a confirmed leak it Could also have water in the bcm or the plugs to/from it…..(think it’s in one of the footwells but you’ll have to check on the exact whereabouts).A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

Add me to this list...
Did anybody figure anything out? Mine hasn't had any leaks that I know of, certainly not in my ownership.
Mine cannot see the smart key either, it will start using the key under the column emergency option, but I get no dials, well basically no electrics full stop. Exterior lights work but don't feedback to the cabin. Can't lock the vehicle either which is a bloody pain. Battery is just over 12 months, but haven't checked voltage yet. I guess check battery, check earth strap and see where I am after that?

I'm aware of a couple of smart key based issues on here. Not sure if this is the basis of some of the problems being reported.
One was put down to a faulty KVM module meaning smart key wasn't recognised. I'll post a link for that one when I find it.
Another problem was put down to a wireless phone charger interfering with key signal.
Not sure if this helps.
Good luckGary

After lots of diagnostics it appears to me a medium speed can bud communication error with the instrument cluster, only problem is I’ve got to get it out to take to the auto electrician (who doesn’t have a workshop and can’t store an immobile car)www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

Exactly the same as mine, nothing on the dash or infotainment, no climate and key not found… only once the thing was started using the key under the steering wheel we could run the rest of the diagnostics.www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

Mine seems to have started behaving again - all I've managed to do so far is check the battery is good, and the alternator is putting out what I expect.
Second to that, I've unplugged my dash cams incase they were causing any problems, filled it up with diesel and filled the adblu up as that was low.
It's been in to Land Rover today as the upper tailgate is rusting from inside the weld between the two skins. It's just outside of the 6 year anti corrosion warranty, and they dismissed it as I expected. Really annoying that I've just noticed it, I just never look at the inside of the tailgate when I open it. My mate who runs a body shop won't touch it unless I waiver the paint guarantee as he says it'll just come back as the rust is inside.
Not a good week for the disco...
