LT14 SZD - heading to auction
OK, firstly not too sure on where to put this and also aware that the general consensus is NOT to list whole registration numbers, but this has been posted in the vague hope that it may assist anyone who does a Google search for the vehicle.
My D4 Commercial is due to be collected on Tuesday and, as far as I am aware, will head straight to the auctions - info below:
The current mileage is just under 100k - 99,400 or so and the vehicle has been maintained from new by Guy Salmon Land Rover in Northampton, wanting for (almost) nothing.
However, of note, it had a new engine ( ) at 57,600 miles - all done under warranty by LR. This information doesn’t appear anywhere on the service history or records due to being a LR cost.
Since then, we have continued to service the vehicle on mileage basis - using this calculation, the next service at 115k should be a major service with all the belts etc but clearly the new engine will have only done 50k or so at that stage so you might want to take a view on whether to do belts...
Other works have included the handbrake assembly (full rebuild), replacement of EGR and, yesterday, replacement of the driver’s lock assembly to solve an issue with the central locking. It’s also had recent new tyres all round, probably at around 92k from memory.
I don’t tow a lot, but when I do, it tends to be high value (or sentimental things like horses...) and so I’d pushed for the plug-in tow bar to be changed to the heavy duty fixed tow bar. This may look slightly more agricultural, but won’t come adrift on you and was carried out under warranty.
So, what else needs doing?
Well, I wanted the 4-wheel alignment done when we did tyres and actually suspect it may need bushes all round as it was scrubbing tyres. The lease company may have been of like mind as they weren’t too keen to follow up or authorise the work - I needed the vehicle for work and so it had a set of tyres and we all rather ignored the tyre wear patterns....
If you buy this, I’d suggest monitoring the ongoing tyre wear and be mindful of the potential need to look at bushes in the not too distant future.
Oh - despite being a Commercial (so cheaper road tax), it also has an N1 compliant temporary rear seat arrangement - these are the Atlantech seats and were carried over from my original Commercial.
As the old saying goes, ‘Never raced, rallied or rolled...’
