Disco warranty expires on the 7/1 so had it booked in for a final inspection on the 5/1. In Perth on the 4th shopping and on goes the suspension warning light - had access height only.
Next day at the stealer thay checked all - all good, but couldn't locate suspension fault - suggesting it may be something I had installed ie dual batttery, Ipod connect ... but no it was the compressor had siezed and blown a 60 amp fuse.
All was replaced that day (all credit to the dealer) and now works well.
I'm concerned though that it may have broken out in the sticks and while it was still driveable it is a worry! The D3 has just done 60k nearly all blacktop work - so is the compressor up to it?

Hi Greg - welcome!
I hope you have bought extended warranty. I have an Allianz policy - good for 3 more years or 60,000km. Pretty cheap too - considering the price of repairs.
Regarding getting stuck in the sticks - it's all part of the adventure!
Cheers,
Rob

Same thing happened to me. A certain south of the river dealer also suggested it was something I had installed
Another time, when I asked them to find the rattle that was coming from the left rear wheel, they told me...wait for it... it was the strap hanging from the winch hook at the front flapping around
I bought the stabliliser bar bush spacers, put them under the rear bushes and no more rattle.
My three year old has better fault finding abilities. Have a nice day!

I have taken out the extra warranty - so feeling pretty secure.
Does anyone know if the 'new' compressors are better than the original?
Also did the suspension survey on this site.
I'll have to find a three year old to assist any future problems!

I had the compressor changed at about the same number of Km as yours. I am informed that the new comp is superior to the original. Now for the bad news.....
As Jamo implied, the two stealers in Perth aren't worth a pinch of goat poo when it comes to diagnosing problems. I have resolved to drive my Disco (if it is driveable) to Alice Springs for repairs if and when necessary. At least they are trained, are straight talkers and don't make BS excuses about parts taking x or y days to get here. Land Rover parts are shipped Australia wide - overnight!

Actually, Norto, I prefer to look at it as a blatant "unplug" for the Perth Stealers.

All's well with new compressor but now makes small "chiffing' noises - as if air tank is full and bleading off excess air. Didn't do this prior - apart from normal noise when lowering.
Is this ok? 06 SE, long range tank, Mitchell Bros hitch, dual Kaymar spare wheel carriers, Traxside dual batteries,

It will make those noises if you are outside the vehicle and have left any of the doors open.

Met a woman at the dog park whose husband works for LR in the franchise department. Previous incumbant closed down the dealerships. He is now trying to get service centres that can do warranty repairs set up separate from the dealers.
