Had a trade in valuation at a dealers for £1900
I know that would be a rock bottom auction price, still upsetting though.

Surely that's not relevant, its what it can save you in diagnostic/repair bills.==================================

Thats how we would see it, but people buying a 2k car arent going to be willing to spend 400 quid on a diag tool no matter what it saves them.

They have probably already got one and are going to use it to quadruple its value It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Going to see what you guys are on about as I have a BT IIDTool on its was from Duckworths. £405 including VAT and delivery.
Just checking if there is only one version as I have seen some on fleebay which seem to only work on a specific model. Also Dan at Duckworth was under the impression it's coded to the VIN for all features, however:

Honda CR250 - noisy play thing
So is the Lynx diagnostic tool Vin locked or does in run own all engine types if unlocked? i e D3? will it work on all D3 Diesel if unlocked for that engine type?

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the late reply.
The individual user Lynx is unlocked one model range at a time, e.g. all D3's or all D4's, etc. So yes, nunosousa, you could do diagnostics on all D3's.
We've separated the functionality into basic and advanced functions. With a few exceptions, our basic functionality which is not VIN-locked is equivalent to the entire functionality of the Lynx. And you can perform these basic functions on all vehicles we cover, so D3+4, RR 2002>, Puma Defender, Evoque, Disc Sport, etc.
This makes the IIDTool individual user unit more or less equivalent to the Lynx Evo Pro (which is just under £800 - twice as much as the IIDTool).
The advanced functions that we have VIN locked are functions that no other LR diagnostic system - save BBS - has.
I am obviously biased, but the Lynx makes little sense to me. Either save real money and buy an iCarsoft at £80 - or spend money on something that works.
The one caveat with the IIDTool is that we don't cover the early vehicles, unfortunately. So if you have a P38 RR, D2, or TD5 Def, you'll need another system. www.gap-diagnostic.com
