MacRae and Dick Inverness
Buy new car from them. On delivery it comes with a part broken, that the salesman and I spotted. It takes them 3 months to get the bit, (has their spares department got a problem?) then a further two weeks to book it in. Meantime, I've travelled 150 miles to another dealer where they did it on the spot and gave the car a total valet.
Also when a red light appeared on the dash, took it in, saw workshop manager. They were too busy to even put it on the computer. When telling them I'd to make a long trip in a couple of days, they said they'd chance it and if it failed, there was always LR assist. Needless to say it failed and 3 hours later when LR assist arrived they said I should have never been let out of the garage without it done. (Service Dept has obviously got a problem)
I have heard it depends on who you are as to what service you get. Funny, I always thorght money was the same colour who ever handed it over.
Do I regret buying from them - YES, YES, YES. Will I buy again, NO, NO, NO. They have blown me buying a new car every year from them and reverting to distance buying. AVOID LIKE THE PLAUGE. LR please send me the customer satisfaction form, then put on a tin hat.

I'll PM you, once I've looked at your profile. I don't trust M&D one little bit. From what I've said here, if they read this they will probably identify me, then look out. If I mention the problem specifically, they will know straight away.
In the past, with a previous LR vehicle, I've had the Workshop Manager phone up my home in a right snappy, argumentative mood because of a feedback to LR and it wasn't too bad. I think I had a moan at the cost and lubricant sprayed everywhere off the top of my head, but I gave them outstanding for things they deserved, well the Receptionist, who was pleasent.
I wouldn't buy anything from these guys, yet they were all over me like a rash when trying to secure my order. The Sales Manager and the Salesman sat for an hour trying to tell me that by buying locally, they would look after me, any little problem would be sorted, assuring me of their best attention at all times. saying I'd be invited to LR outings etc. It all came to nothing. Once I'd signed the order form, they changed and I got the feeling I was too much trouble or their profit margin wasn't enough. They were then very stand offish and not communicative as to when the vehicle will be ready etc. I was very disappointed. I wouldn't mind but I paid cash.
I don't think I'll ever go to their garage again. It will be a remote LR dealership and LR Assist if I get stuck.

I did look at buying a new HSE from them and was told that I could gert "a couple of thousand off", this was when Stratstones were offering 9k off a HSE before negotiations and they could be bought for 11k off. Thought about the phrase involving the Clyde and Banana Boat and bought a 2nd hand one off a trusted forum member instead.
Nep, where U from as you could use Frank Ogg in Elgin instaed?? Generally a lot better and whilst not perfect they do try. A few times my car's been booked in with one or two problems, then a list of issues got phoned in a couple of datys before it went in and they have tackled all on the original and new list. Car has had to go back after one visit but overall happy.

Yes, I know. Normally they are an expensive dealership, but I did my homework on the internet and was going to Bradford for a D3, however decided to try the local dealer, for a laugh more than anything else and they matched the Bradford price to the penny - they must have been desperate for a sale, so decided why not give them a chance. I really wished I'd trusted my instincts and gone elsewhere.

About 50 miles west of Elgin. I go to Cupar now, but a 150 miles away. Thier valeting after any work is amazing and nothing too much trouble and I am not a Stratstone's fan. Oag's might be worth a try, seen people quite impressed by them.

Totally agree, Avoid M&D if at all possible. Serial Imcompetence! I have used them 3 times and every time is a pain. First time was a service on my old Disco2 which they missed off several items on the service, they argued the case until I showed them the schedule. Second time after replacing a track rod end the car drove with the steering wheel at the 2 oclock position, after complaining they had a second go and the wheel drove at the 11 oclock position (eventually fixed this myself). The last time they screwed up a simple brake change.
If they must insist in robbing you blind then they should have the decency to be good!!
Nowadays I drive past their door and head to Frank Ogg in Elgin - no problems there.

It's right, I have to agree with the original poster M&D have serious, serious attitude! If they treated you well, it must have been because you were female. They apparently have an eye for that or so it's said. Comes under 'free servicing' I think.
