How to make a proper off roader
Hi guys
Iv had my disco3 7 years now and its time to do some proper off roading with it. Had a little sample run today at Cannock chase. My car is completely standard with disco4 wheels.
Id like to make it more versatile and now use it as a full time off road vehicle
What mods would you guys suggest?
Bigger wheels and tyres?
Rock sliders?
Iv seen discos sitting a lot higher than standard. How is this done?
Thanks

Smaller wheels with AT tyres.
You can raise the lift with Johnson rods or electronically with a suitable tool like an IID or even a gadget that I think beanie sells.

I’d start with underbody protection and 18” or even 17” rims.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

What wheels do people recommend? Il start with wheels and tires first 👍
Standard D3 17" wheels - they often appear for sale here & on the bay of evil.
There are a number of threads on AT tyres here - take your choice.

I’d prefer to have as deep a side wall as possible. Although remember you can’t fit a V8 brake disc upgrade with 17” rims and there’s also less tyre choice.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Stick with the standard size 255-55-19.
I've done my most extreme off roading (in Wales) on 19" rims with the above size tyres and wouldn't have benefited from a larger size.

Not sure if any better. Won’t be doing much road except to and from destination so I can afford to go pretty extreme

Ill be boring and say.
Fire Extinguisher
Recovery Strap/Shackles
First Aid kit + training (or at least a book/youtube session)
Decent clothing
Shovel
Air compressor (so you can air down) but you cant air down a lot on 19's so maybe/maybe not. However they are bloody useful regardless, e.g slow puncture.
Pretty much 99% of the videos on "so you want to go offroad" start with thoseDisco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2
