Manual Gearbox much slower than Auto |
|
Hi Dear D3 Owners.
I am looking for advice on my D3. It is a TDV6 Manual, lovely car and very pleased, except for the fact it is back at the dealer with a starting problem which we think is the starter motor. Anyway this leads me to my question. The Landrover support folk have supplied a D3 TDV6 Auto and all I can say is fast. Why is this so much faster at acceleration than my manual. It almost seems as though I only have a 2ltr and not 2.7ltr engine. My car has done 38k and the loan one 15k so should be nothing mileage related.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
Thanks in advance
Tom

Don't think my manual is any slower than an auto I borrowed from the dealer once... could be they have had it re-mapped on the QT

Much prefer the manual ( always have) although it must be said the autobox is the best that I have driven so far.
Have had mine remapped, cant remember what mileage I got it at though but I definitely had at least 25 k miles clocked before doing so , regs , DW

The last manual D3 I drove was terribly slow. Something to do with me forgetting how to drive properly in the last 18 months of having only two pedals
More seriously, the 07 loaner I had recently was very nearly as responsive as my JE chipped 06. The newer engines certainly seem to me to give far more 'out of the box'.

I have to say I have had two D3 both Autos - I had the last one Turbo chipped http://www.turbochip.ltd.uk and it not only improved the performance I got at least another 8mpg. A colleague drives a same age manual and cant believe how much better mine was. I am going back again to Turbo Chip again

My 07 (not re-mapped, yet) has just been in to the stealers for a few days and I got a 07 auto as a loner, even with the auto in sport mode my manual (although there’s not much in it) is faster. The best I’ve got her (my manual) to show on the dash on a long motorway drive has been 44.4 MPG. Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.
