MICHELIN Latitude Tour..?

My tyres have done 30k+ and have 2-3mm left, so I'm looking at replacements. Just checked with Costco and they can do 4 x MICHELIN Latitude Tour (255/60/18 V rated) for £168.78 each (£655 total) and for the next 4 weeks are doing a £94 additional discount, so £561 for 4 tyres.

Question is, has anyone used these tyres and would they recommend them.

cheers

simon

ps my current tyres are Pirelli Scorpions and I like them....

Price of tyres appear to have shot up over the last twelve months. Twelve months ago I could pruchase replacement scorpions for £90 fitted and then last time around all the suppliers were asking +£165 per tyre. I had a look around and a colleague recommended Toyo. As most of my mileage is on the road these replacement tyre were fine, in fact on the road they performed better than the Pirelli. However if you are a serious off roader then steer well clear of these tyres, as they are purely uni-directional road tyres which suited me down to the ground as the only time I go off road is when I pull the caravan onto a site.

Good luck with your search.

Checked out the 255/55/19 at Costco today (special order, not stock item) with the discount £151 fitted per corner.
Tread patten seems to be very tarmac orientated but I would expect high milage and low noise from them.
Must get the tracking checked when I decide which tyres to go for as mine are wearing on the inside on the front.
Seems to be a good deal though. Thumbs Up

You won't get away from the wearing on the edge, as I have suffered from this on every set of tyre. It is a real shame as the rest of the tyre is fine and could last several thousand more miles. Apparantly the D3 can only be tracked by an authorised dealer and it costs £100 or two hours labour to check the tracking.

I have to say that my current Scorpions have worn very evenly, both across the tread and front to back. The back has 3mm remaining and the front 2.6mm.

My mileage is 100% on-road (my Defender is for the rough stuff), so if the Michelins perform as well as the Scorpions I'll be pleased.

cheers

Latitude tours are excellent. Very quiet. Good economy. Done 10K on them and they look like new. Most importantly, they stick to the greasy single track roads where I live like glue. I've been around a few muddy fields and they've not left me stranded either. Highly recommended. The only thing is they don't look very tough, and not as meaty as the Michelins they replaced. Apparently they last for 40K though. They fit exactly with what I wanted.

Look out for the large fitters (such as KwikFit) offering deals on 4 tyres. I spotted a 25% off fours tyres deal, and then went and price matched a local small independent. Cost my a shade over 500 quid (something like £515ish).

STS Tyre Pros http://www.stapletons-tyres.co.uk/tyrepros/storelocator.asp have 25% off Pirellis at the moment. Never had problems with Pirellis.
