2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3
Michelin Latitudes from Costco

Just had 4 Latitudes fitted for circa £600 at Costco. Really impressed with how quiet they are compared to OEM tyres. Have Offroad tyres for offroad so they are road only. But recommend to anybody who does lots of m-way and wants a quiet ride.

Second that the Latitude is a very quiet tyre and "circa £600.00" is about par for 255/55x19 at present.

We have good stock in 19"

Are these suitable for a D3 as winter tyre.
Currently used on a RRS 19" rims

I would like to run those on the D3

Thx for the advice...
Something I do not understand then...why is this OK for a RRS and not for a D3?
Both practical the same total-weight, the RRS drives faster, ....?

I'm off to order four Latitudes from Costco before the offer expires on Sunday 23/11. They don't have the 255/60 18" in stock but will order in for me and should be in here within a week. £576 all in for four and filled with Nitrogen Bow down (which sounds like a waste of time as I'll be changing pressure frequently to allow for loadings and towing)

This has probably been asked before so feel free to flame me! Laughing

Is there any issue with mixing Nitrogen and 'normal' air and would it affect performance or handling negatively. Has anyone looked into it and are there things to take note of? or is 34 psi exactly that however it is made up?

As a starter has anyone asked this question at Costco when buying tyres from them?
 I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

I intend to ask that either today or tomorrow when I order my tyres. Will keep you posted on the Costco response.
I recall that the Nitrogen retains a constant pressure for longer as it is less likely to leak, apart from that, 'fa kens' as they say in these parts. Laughing

Had my Latitudes on for about 30K now, and they hardly look worn. Great road handling on greasy country roads, and excellent motorway low-noise. They get out of a muddy field too! Wish they didn't look quite so soft though. I much preferred the Syncrones (previous model) which had a tougher looking shoulder.

Dexter... Mark in Aberdeen Costco did a great job for me with the 255/60 18", it took him a few months to get hold of the tyre but he honoured the voucher (I was not in a rush for the tyre). I have had them on a few months now and the Lattitude is far superior tyre than the Scorpion... good choice

As Nitrogen is the main component of "air" then releasing some to reduce pressures and adding "air" to increase pressures will simply change the overall % over time. You will obviously loose some of the benefit Rolling Eyes But you're not exactly going to cause a chemically unstable mix are you Laughing

Purely speculation on my part, but I would think that the main reason for using nitrogen rather than air is to reduce oxidation and, hence, aging. However, as most temperature in a tyre is generated by flexing of the tyre while in contact with the road, I think that the difference will be negligible.
