Maxxis Bighorn 265/70/17's (,use them myself and very pleased with them they eat mud and only cost about 80 / 90 pounds. Only rub on extreme bottom out in normal height , no issues offroad.
Cooper STT 265/70/17's ( plenty of the guys here use the 245 version)
BFG 265 AT's Allterrain ,
General Grabber AT2 265 Allterrain
The Oz guys use the Mickey Thom's so should be able to give you the headsup.

Unnecessary quote removed
would you say you have enough room to fit snow chains as well ?

I've never used snow chains Andy. But my gut feeling is that if you were to use the above then you more than likely need spacers aswell. 245 's are ok with chains AFAIK.DiscoDunc , ChrisTyler,10forCash, WillMyth would be better experienced to advise on that one.

Yep - I've got them. Replaced the Cooper STT's with them. Better mud performance, less noise. Rub in the usual places (front of rear wheel well), but only at maximum articulation, and only on the plastic trim.

I think that the use of snow chains with tyres this size is out of the question.

Has anyone tried 265/70/17 MTs with wheel spacers?
Cheers,
