My 2016 D4, driver side second row seat is stuck in the fully down flat position. The release strap on the front underside of the seat is stretched, elongated and frayed. I cant get any purchase out of it at all. I can only get the seat back to lift about an inch using the release catch beside the headrest but I can feel ot is mechanically locked at the bottom end.
I presume that I need to replace the strap and possibly a cable?
What other mechanical issues live under that seat? Can I get it to lift by any other means? Thanks.

Could be something stuck in the mechanism?
And the seat back , IIRC, won't lift until base is raised. .

I found on my D3 I had to lean very heavily on the seat pushing it down while pulling on the strap and hold it out whilst releasing the the seat itself. A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

This has happened on mine when the strap is twisted underneath the seat. Try to get your hand under the seat and pull the strap from there. Doesn’t need a lot to release it.
Good luck Gary

My DC4 has similar but stuck in upright position due to broken lifter cable so cannot move .I think I need to remove it completely but without seat folding it seems impossible.Any help appreciated .Sorry to piggy back your problem but could not work out how to post new thread Bob

Are you saying the back will not fold flat? My seats have two straps . One at the back rolls it forward towards the front seats. The one underneath at the front allows the seat base (and folded back) to be pushed down to make a level floor. Are you unable to use both? Gary

Hi Thankyou for the reply. The problem is the passenger seat in the middle row of seats is stuck in the upright position because of a broken cable. We need to be able to lift the seat or remove it to get at it and cannot see a way of doing that

We have just been to local Landrover Garage.Update for anyone else who has this problem. The cable is part of the whole back. The metal. You have to remove the fabric on the seat.Easy to remove but not so easy to put back. The part is £234 plus vat fitting cost unknown yet. There is video on line how to repair it using a bike cable but because we cannot move the seat at all not an option. It cannot happen often beause they had never done it before.Thankyou
