Probably not specific to the D4 but I am looking at a 2016 one which has the heavy duty braced tow hitch. I don't do heavy towing so may consider removing it. It restricts access to the spare wheel, affects the exit angle and makes the back end look akin to a tractor
The removable part still has the lock mechanism but the key ring doesn't appear to have the key on it. The key could be in the car somewhere and I have asked the dealer if they can find it, are these a common key that I could get elsewhere. If not can the drop adaptor lock be overcome? Hi,
the lock can be Very easily overcome that's why they keep getting nicked, (when left in place )
have a search loads of threads about removing the hitch and also about sourcing other keys if you want to go that route, the standard reply used to be "buy a replacement lock and you get the removal instructions included about £15"
