mmmmmm.... First failure. Any Ideas...?
Driving today along the M6 Toll road, had been driving with no problem for about 50 minutes (1hr 40 min drive this morning no problem).
Had just gone through the Tag lane and was building back up to speed.
Got to about 75 & then bong & all the lights came on.
Suspension Lowering message
Limited Gears message
Big F in the display
Park Brake fault message (althoiugh EPB applied fine)
Total lack of acceleration, slowly reducing speed, managed to pull over the lanes and onto the hard shoulder.
When stopped, engine was running, but was not responsive.
Switched off, waiting for the EPB light to go off. Then re-started & drove home the rest of the way no problem.
Was a bit cautious starting off again, but thought I'd get it back up to try to re-produce the fault. No problems, worked fine all the way home.
Checked the brake lights & all the rear lights when I got home, all fine.
Any ideas? do I have a catastrophe waiting aroiund the corner for me

Mine did that was told buy James Edwards that it was the Fly wheel??? Happened like your describing (with the usual "bong") then came on and stayed on a few days later called LR Assist out who towed it and got me a FFRR from Enterprise came back 3 days later fixed.

Bodsy,
This looks similar to the lights, camera, action I got when I blanked the EGRs....don't be scared, the issue wasn't EGR failure, but more to do with there being a perceived inconsistency in data being reported across the CANBus that the blanking plates caused (they caused "EGR flow too high" at the same time as "Mass Air flow too high" and the ECU knew it couldn't be both).
I'm fairly sure you'll need the codes reading to determine what's playing up, but it could be as simple as water in a connector causing flaky data.Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

Fob, I've got an Auto, so I hope it's not that
Haven't blanked the EGR's and I'm not sure if it actually lowered the suspension or not
Iain, The order of messages as I remember was
1. Limited Gears Available (I assume the F appeared at that time, but didn't notice it until I stopped)
2. Suspension Lowering
3. Park Brake fault

Mine (manual) was:
(from about 70mph, usually after about 1hr driving)
HDC fault
Special Programs not available (or something like that)
Park Brake fault
Suspension lowering (and it did!)
But I'm not so sure about power loss??
switching ignition off / on (even still moving) would clear it.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

mmmm No planes that I noticed...
Speedo........ I'm fairly sure that the revs dropped as it was decelerating on the engine (no change regardless of where the accelerator was) but the speedo stayed the same EDIT - Well stayed reducing at the 'real' speed. BUt TBH, I was more intent on getting from the outside to the insdie lane without wiping out the ford fiesta that was matching my decelerating speed Bodsys Brake Bible
