A couple of thoughts:
You can't really be accused of stealing it as it's not left the shop ...but you could technically be sued for damaging goods i.e furling \ crinkling the pages and rendering them imperfect.
If you buy a magazine thats been read by others .....does that make it 2nd hand ??21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
I read the topic incorrectly and thought it was going to be a debate on Mortality - mans insignificance in the greater scheme of things & the meaning of life etc.
Instead, I find CY with a guilt trip about scanning Mayfair cover to cover at the local WH Smith...... The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Yep there not so much worried about you stealing it ...it's that fact that you've got your hand down your pants shouting "Wooorrrr" in front of all the other shoppers at the time 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Maybe even criminal damage as you are turning something sellable into something not in the worst case of over-thumbing.Cheers

Let's see how long I can keep this one going...
If you pick up a magazine in a shop, read it in its entirety from cover to cover and then put it back on the shelf, is this stealing?
Discuss...
Naaa... feck 'em, they only run a shop 'cos they're too lazy to get a proper job anyway if they'd tear themselves away from their mobile long enough to realise you were reading the mag cover-to-cover then maybe they deserve to get paid the cover price, but what's the chance of that??? if they don't sell it, they send it back on a sale or return basis anyway
