Monkeys, Humidity and 4WDs |
|
Just got back from a walk to the highest point in Singapore (164m) and yes it was hot and humid. Started with a light grey T-Shirt and ended with a dark grey ringing wet one.
Bukit Timah nature reserve is 163 hectares of Jungle and has many walking tracks and a couple of "mountain bike" trails.
On the walk back to civilisation I came across a guy seting up his roof top tent in a clearing near the edge of the reserve. He was waitng for a couple of mates to arrive and they were going to spend the night. They would not be alone as there were a number of mokeys gathering around to see what they could steal.
I walked over to this guy to have a look at his rig and he had a Land Rover T-shirt on although he was driving a Suzuki. Had been a LR owner for 20 years but had to sell it when he changed jobs, because a Defender is classified as a commercila vehicle in Singapore.
It does not matter where you come from in the world if you are a 4wder especially a Landy driver, people are really friendly. The guy offered me a cold drink and we had a chat for about 30 minutes. His vehicle had lots of bush pin stripes, a 3" lift, muddies and was well set up. He did say that the unpainted front bumper was his 3rd, a result of driving in Malaysia. He also longed for another Defender.
Oh I miss my D3!!
Dont know if I will ever get it back, the son in law, a previous Toyota man has been driving it for the last couple of months and according to my daughter "all he talks about is that bloody Landrover"
Ahh another convert
Think its time for a dip in the pool to cool off Take the road less traveled. Great story Wayne. Good to see you making good use of your time. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
