Moscow to Almaty and then China ?
Hello, I want to ask the LR Disco community on this great internet site if anyone has driven their Disco's to Almaty (Kz), and then into China?
Anyone that knows what the road conditions are between Moscow and Almaty (and what season of the year the trip was made)?
My previous touring experiences with my Disco 3 is Moscow-Rome-Moscow, as numerous tours through southern and and western Russia. The Europe tour has been a walk in the park considering with what I've seen here in Russia, as such my interest in other persons experience of driving (and potentially servicing their LR) in Central Asia is significant.
(Since I'm not part of any Land Rover expedition or anything similar sponsored I will have to manage all car repairs and fixing by myself using whatever road service that could be available).
Thanks.

Sure can do
Several borders are closed at the moment and all west is off limits to non Chinese.
Servicing not a big issue. Routes though mongolia open but its minus 40 there at the moment...so in effect they are closed.
What route did you have in mind?
Also new laws on llicence Allows you to drive but only in the province issued For two weeks and you have to have perm address to apply and each province would need the same.this means you will have to drive illegally to do your trip...but dont let that put you off.
But if you do come pop in for tea.
Feel free to pm with questions. It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
