MOT - will mine fail due to these faults..?

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone here know whether these two issues might cause a fail my D3’s upcoming MOT? It is at the end of June so I thought I should give myself enough time to sort them.

A). The speaker on the dashboard has failed so I no longer get audible warnings on things like seatbelts, indicators, and so on.

B). The electric parking brake is faulty so I’ve pulled the fuse out to stop it trying to operate.

Many thanks.

Don't think the first one is.
Second one will be, and absolutely should be.
IMO the EPB is a critical thing to have in 'reserve' given the number of vacuum pump / master cylinder failures.

1st one, no

2nd one, Yes

Though not an issue as Highlands suggest for brake failure. The "emergency brake" is activated by the switch, which then activates the ABS to bring the car to a stop

However, your "parking brake" will need to function correctly for its MOT Thumbs Up

As far as I was aware when I was working on the D3, if the ABS pump also fails the parking brake will engage to stop the car.

Also, be aware that the handbrake is a legal requirement, not just at MOT time...
Every part of every brake system must be working and correctly adjusted.

Does the EPB emergency switch not use the parking brake at all?
At what point/speed does it switch between being EPB and 'emergency'?
Haven't ever seen the explanation of the system and genuinely interested.
Thanks!

I tried it once. It used the main brakes, with abs pump running, lots of alarm bongs! As it pulled up the park brake came on at about 5mph.

Thanks all. I’ll get the EPB sorted in the next couple of weeks. The speaker can get done when I have some other spare time.

Cheers again.
