In my brief conversion with someone from Alpine, they basically said Land Rover is in charge of the design specification. They are just a partner. So, we can blame Land Rover for choosng to not include CD Text support (& MP3 ID tag support) and (the horror!) will need to depend on Land Rover for functional improvements. This isn't a cookie cutter system... it's unique to Land Rover. They couldn't even comment on if satellite radio would be available as a retrofit upgrade... since it will be available for the forthcoming Range Rover Sport (which uses the same design.)

Will we see native iPod support from Land Rover? You can only hope. Maybe in 2008 we can buy a refreshed model. 8) The current UI obviously isn't designed for it... it can't even handle text. Rolling Eyes

I use "sonic digital media" to produce Juke box MP3 data CD's with loads of folders to help in locating different albums. It is a pain in the neck not having the album details on the display however. I use position 1 for regular audio CD's and positions 2-6 for my data discs. Incidently, I use CD-RW's and they work without any errors.
Ps. no doubt you are aware that using the [*<] or [#>] keys will navigate you through the folders.
Mine is an 06 TDV6 SE and I am concerned that the voice recognition only works with the PTI and not with the audio or sat nav. I have posted the same questions elsewhere on the forum but no replies as yet.
Is it only the HSE that can use voice recognition on all 3 systems?

Being the inquisitive type, yes, but the IHU will only play MP3 files, and I can confirm that it does not recognise WMA files.

I have spent a huge amount of time digitising my entire music collection (over 10,000 tracks) to play on my media centre in the house. Now I purchase my music on-line (http://mycokemusic.com or itunes) but obviously when you purchase it, the files come in an encrypted or locked format. I personally object to being told what I can and can;t play MY music that I have purchased on. So to get around this I burn the music I download and purchase to a CD and then re-import onto the Media Centre as a new CD.

This way the lock of WMA / AAC is removed and the import at 192kbs MP3 still sounds perfect. This is then moved (or as much as I can) onto the IPOD for use in the car.
