MTR newbie
Question for one of those "all year MTR" runners:
I'm thinking of swapping my worn out Scorpions for a new set of MTR's. On my budget I don't have the luxury of more than one set of usable or swappable tyres at the moment, so would be thinking of running them all year. I realise the noise level will go up a bit but is there any noticeable or significant reduction of handling or stopping distance on tarmac (dry or wet)?
I really fancy a set but still do a significant amount of motorway miles and worry about the "on road" performance - ie. safety!

Not had any incidents in nearly two years of wearing them. You probably wouldn't want to push them extremely hard in the wet ..but I personally haven't changed my driving style at all 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

run mine all year round CC, care only needed in the wet where they are not so grippy but are much better in standing water, they are noisier so if you enjoy the 'serene progress' that tyres such as Pirelli Scorpions bring then I'd find something to pawn so that you could have two sets also you will 'lose' 2 -3 mpg but having said all that I have a set of MT'R's and a set of Scorpions and the scorpions are still in the shed! you are not that far from me so if you want to see them in action on the tarmac as it were feel free to wander over and theeeeennn......???

AT2's are a good compromise - but you'll need a set of 18" rims, great handling and quiet on road, reasonably capable in the muddy stuff but great for sand / gravel / snow / rock / grass

Put the MTR's on for 10's bash earlier this year...Never got around to taking them off... They just look so much more the part! No problems at all, bit noisey but the excellent sound system in D3's more than makes up for that... And with a G4 rack it's the least of your noise worries
They make me a little more cautious in the wet for no real reason, but that's probably no bad thing. I'm also not to far away if you wanted a run up the M27 as a trial!
Cheers, Richard.Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!
