I have to say that the Lancruisers are the Kings of the sands, if you get time look up Nicolas Gibon, a French driver who is driving a 200 series Cruiser on the 2009 Dakar Rally, in the top twenty, bit of a lack of D3's out there compeating, never mind next year maybe.
I hope to be over in March for the 2009 UAE Desert Challenge, do you get involved ????
All the best

Your darn tooting they are
Travelling up from the NEC last night up the M6, dark, wet, windy and moving on a bit at motorway speeds I hit quite a few patches of standing water that were not easily spotted.
Quite a few cars squirming and almost aqua-planing as they hit them, but the D3 on MTR's just drove through, no fuss, no water forced up onto the screen, no movement, still planted. Not sure that would be the case on scorpions or wranglers.
MTR's - you know it makes sense
Told you so I actually change the wheels tyres of the Enterprise D3 and FFRR loaners to my MTR's as I hate the standard road tread they come with. Oh dont ask me what they come with as I dont take any notice. Aquaplaning slidy standard tyres, well thats what we call them.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

My first set of MTR's were part worn - and I didn't really rate them for road use.
Once I got new set they were totally different. Superb on-road - I use them 24/7. I could see why someone sold their part worns..... Disco 5 HSE Lux

Just had a 3 day trip down south from North Yorks.
Cambs, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, London & back up the A1.

After driving my wifes hot hatch last week, MTR noise is nothing.
Tyre is fantastic!

Tell me about it. LRA dropped off a Vauxhall Zafira I could not believe the road noise, put it this way if a Defender made a similar noise it would be straight into the dealer for a new diffIn the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I like my MTR's as well but my HP's are almost new probably just my 16000 km so I will use them on the road till they are worn and then use my Mtr's permanently.
I think however that stopping distance on a wet road on MTR's will be longer than with the HP's. I didn't test it but looking at the amount off rubber in contact with the road I think so.
When there is standing water or loose snow on the road MTR's are better.
I noticed when I changed my tyres under my Camel from worn but still legal Michelin XZL to BFG MT's that a tyre can make a lot off difference. I could do a four wheel drift on my xzl's but the BFG had a lot off grip.Roel
