A 3.0 should never have more than 5.9 litres of oil put in when serviced. They usually take 5.6 to 5.7. Also if there is oil above or around your starter motor check the secondary turbo formthe oil leak. The is a modified drain pipe that stops it leaking or smoking.

Thanks Mastertech. I have had the turbo drain pipe modification done a few months ago so hopefully this was just residual oil from the previous leak. Will check again in a few weeks to make sure there is no more after I have cleaned it.
