Anyone experienced this problem or is it normal??
Engaged mud & ruts mode on terrain response and HDC light illuminates and actually engages when entering a a "mud rut" ? I can manually turn it off but it just engages again??? Seems like a fault to me. TDV6 D3 HSE

When I select mud and ruts in low range I can switch off HDC and it stays off unless I select another program. 2.7 D4 eDiff, Traxide Dual battery, Safari Snorkel...Opposite Lock winch bar..extra set 17" wheels with 245/70/17 BFG KM2 MTs..Warrior winch..Long range tank.

Hi I second Discojools - HDC comes on automatically when you select mud and ruts but if you then switch off HDC (via the yellow button) it should stay off - unless the current Discos (mine is a late 2007 build - delivered here Feb) allow you to do this but perhaps (seems unlikely...) earlier ones did not...?
For what it is worth, the Disco3 I drove in England (at the Landrover Experience) also allowed you to disengage HDC when in mud and ruts (and it stayed disengaged) - that was a recent model TDV6 too (an HSE).
If your's reselects HDC without any input or changes from you, sounds like a fault - suggest you check with your dealer.... Have my new year Disco..! Atacama Sand, active diff, active headlights, hi-ice, cooler, sliding loadspace floor, window tint, MP3, Mantec plate, roof rails, mud
