Multiple engine and drivetrain faults and will not start

So i will start from the beginning:
Over the last month I have had the body off my newly purchased D3 to do some head work as well as replace the belts (timing and fuel), oil pump, water pump etc. Last week my father and I lowered the body back on, plugged everything back in and hey presto, it ran sweet with no errors or lights on the dash.
Unfortunately whilst bleeding the fuel system some fuel was spilt and my father decided to use a steam cleaner under the bonnet to remove it... It was fine that night, i drove it home with no issues.

During the night the alarm went off twice which i just turned off thinking nothing of it. Next morning battery was flat, as soon as i try to jump it the locks would franticly lock and unlock, hazard lights on and every warning/ error imaginable.

After some reasurch on here i removed the TCCM and sure enough there was some corrosion and the terminals were wet. I dried and cleaned the terminals and removed the cover, it looked perfect inside. I replaced the module and the crazy locking doors and hazard lights etc have all gone away but there are still a range of codes and the big F next to the gear indicator.
I have tested the High speed can BUS with a multimeter and all is perfect, voltage and resistance.
I have done a hard reset of the ECU and cleaned all of the terminals (ECU and TCCM) with contact cleaner.
The codes are all communication related:
Auto- Lost communication with ECM
ABS- lost communication with ECM
All terrain control- lost communication with ECM
Park brake- lost control with vehicle dynamics
vehicle dynamics- lost communication with steering angle sensor
etc etc

Question
I am tempted to order a new TCCM as it was wet and had some corrosion, however it is sending a code and looked perfect inside so may be okay?
Is the ECU damaged since nothing seems to be able to communicate with it?
Im really confused and beginning to loose patience! I love my LRs but... Yawn

Seems like a Can bus problem, did you check the low speed can bus?

yes i have checked the resistance in both high and low BUS and both seem perfect. Are there any other tests i can do??

Re-reading the OP it was working ok until it was steam cleaned. Whilst turning over is there fuel at the schrader valve. As the battery went flat over night, it assumes you have a short, something switched on or the battery is duff. Does battery charge up okay.

Yes as you say it worked fine before the washing, and about 4 hours after when all hell broke loose!

Just checked, no fuel is at the bleed valve with the key on, ie the lp fuel pump is not running.

And yes the battery charged up perfectly and is holding 12.7 volts.

If its been washed near and around the battery area then you need to remove the battery and check the connections on the PCM and 4x4 unit ecu, these connections are probably wet, you need to dry them out and hope that no water has got in to the PCM.

Flack Thumbs Up

Cheers Flack!

I have disconnected the trans module and the engine ecu. the engine ecu looked perfect, the trans was wet and corroded on the terminals. I have cleaned and dried these. But it is the engine ecu that isn't communicating according to the codes.
Have i cooked my ECM somehow?

Cheers

@wad26

Did you managed to fix this problem? I have the same issue. Vehicle won’t turn over.
All lost communication referring to engine control module. When I remove ecu from the vehicle most of the fault codes disappear. A new ecu cost round 1300€.

Thanks

Hi there
Yes its all sorted now. It was the engine ECU. I don't really know what caused the issue, it sure broke the bank for a new ECU Big Cry
At least she's running great now Smile
