How does the red plastic battery terminal cover come off?
Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done

To answer my own question: it just unclips from the side away from the battery but can be a bit stiff. Duh!

Might need a new one if charging my current battery doesn’t work. Can this small stop/start battery be simply swapped out or does the car need to be told a new battery has been added (with an IID tool or similar)?
Thanks
 Gary

Thanks jdhx.
On charge today and hoping it doesn't come to replacing it. Voltage across the terminals is 11.5V when engine not running, so a bit low.

Cheers

Does anyway know what the resting and engine running voltages for the small stop/start battery on an MY16 should be?

Thanks

Yep, looks like you're right. The CTEK gave an error after about 10 hours of the first phase of conditioning/charging. Have restarted charging one more time before I give up.

So just to confirm the Exide EK151 is fine for an MY16 model?

Thanks
Gary

No it’s not just “fine”, it is the correct battery, just a updated number. Laughing
Tanya stock them about £57 next day delivery.

Thank you. I asked because original states 14ah whereas this is 15ah. Will get one sorted.
Just hope it’s not an issue with charge/charge control. Will check charge with engine running first then if that’s ok will install new battery. Don’t want to wreck a new one.
As always very much appreciate the advice
Cheers

Replaced my little auxiliary stop/start battery today. Been out for a run and the amber warning light indicating stop/start not available has disappeared. Stop/start didn’t kick in even though the engine had reached temp, but I had the lights on and temp was only 9 degrees so will try again in daylight.

Thanks to this forum, I managed to diagnose the fault, find a replacement battery for 1/3 price of a LR branded one and fit the new battery. Must have saved around £200 or more in total. I now understand the importance of a multi meter and CTEK charger as recommended on this forum which were essential in diagnosing the problem.

Cheers
Gary

Main battery needs to be fully charged at 12.7+ volts for SS to work, best way I've found to check the voltage is through the white tow plug while the car is still locked and asleep, center pin and 3 o'clock pin.

Yeh, fully charged the main battery at the weekend when diagnosing the problem. Don't have the tow plug, just use a multimeter on battery . I understand the car is 'awake' when doing this and the reading may well be affected.

Just to finalise my experience on this.

Disco 4 MY2016. Stop start not available warning light on dashboard. Small stop/start battery replaced with Exide EK151 battery which fixed the issue.

Been out this morning in tropical 14 degrees C and stop start kicking in just fine.

Thanks again to all on this forum.
Cheers
