MY15 FBH poor output compared to previous MY12
I've recently changed from a MY12 D4 HSE that had factory fitted remote park heater to a low milage MY15 HSE Luxury without the remote from the factory. I've added the T91R telestart module and remote and updated CCF and that all seems to work fine but the heat output is poor compared to old old faithful MY12.
The FBH appears to function correctly on the MY15 in as much as it makes all the right noises and fires up with a little bit of steam/ white smoke till it gets running but the heat output from it seem poor compared to old MY12
I manually fired it up this morning (-1 degrees) and after 15 mins popped the bonnet and felt the unit and pipes. The unit was only a little warm'ish to touch and the water pipes not much better. The unit was running though because the exhaust was hot.
My new MY15 only has 20k miles on it over 3 years so can't think it's seen much service. I also notice there's less plumping around the FBH - There was an extra valve or pump in the pipework on the old car.
On the old car the FBH would also take the frost off the bonnet above the unit, the MY15 isn't really getting hot enough.
The FBH is able to clear the windscreen of frost but it doesn't put any real heat into the car like the old one did.

When you have the parking heater fitted from Land Rover, the water circuit has a 3 ways valve to drive the coolant only to the engine (auxiliary heater function with engine running) or only to the cabin heater (parking heater function)
If you enable the parking heater function later you don’t have this valve and the heater must heat all the circulating coolant and obviously, it’s needs more time to heat to total coolant mass.Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

Thanks for the replies
Being a HSE Luxury with timed climate (but not remote) as standard, shouldn't it have had the 3-way valve setup already installed from the factory ?

Hi dgardel,
Yeap it's missing on my latest MY15 HSE Luxury vehicle that came with timed climate (not remote)
I'm wondering if it should have been there from the factory in this model ?
If not I guess I need the pipes, value, bracket and whole load of spilt coolant !!

Another nail in the 2016 Landmark’s coffin! I noticed that the cabin is only getting luke warm after the Timed Climate (factory fit) has run. No three way valve fitted obviously.
Add that to the poor heater, appalling surround cameras, virtually non-existent DAB reception, more rattles than Mothercare................ How I wish I could have my 2010 model HSE back!

I quite agree. After almost a lifetime of LR products in the family (and this is my 5th), this one is certainly my last. All cars have issues, but it’s the penny pinching that LR are doing that really p****s me off, especially when you bear in mind what they cost. The sooner they either do us all a favour and go down the pan, or get their heads out of their backsides and produce decent quality stuff the better.
