MY15 HSE Kaikoura Stone
Hi,
My last LR was a D1 1997 ES, was 3 years old when I got it and had it for 3, circumstances at the time meant it became too much of a money pit both in maintaining it and just running it. It was a huge wrench to let it go...
So 12 years later and I am getting back onto the LR wagon! Spent the last 6 years in France driving an office 308, utility only practical for the job, so looking forward to getting my own car, although the stress on the wallet is painful...
Have an HSE Kaikoura Stone on order, privacy, surround and detection and cannot wait to get it!
Originally given a 21st Nov build date but had an email from the dealer to say they had a couple of Oct slots and did I want one of them... bit their hand off!
So hoping to be able to get it at the end of Oct or early Nov

Exciting stuff!
I'm also waiting for mine and in the same colour - we will be members of a very small (exclusive, even) Kaikoura Stone club

Ha yes I am sure the club colour will grow. Haven't actually seen the colour in the flesh, was toying with the new red originally, but chickened out as couldn't see it for real only in pics, so erred on the side of caution... Also though this colour might 'look' cleaner longer!
Third choice was Corris, but from other posts on here that certainly isn't a small club!
Mind you each time I suggested a new colour the dealer was 'great choice, great colour on a discovery' so didn't really help

I can't find Kaikoura Stone in the colour swatches on the Discovery Build and Price site. Is it still an option by another method? Order going in today for Aintree Green but the pictures of Kaikoura Stone here:
are making me think again. I've had a Nara Bronze before. Is it lighter than that?

Hi Bill,
No, none of the three new colours are on the 'Builder' I had to use one of the existing colours and specify the colour by phone/email, took two goes on the order though. I did point out the new colours were not selectable.
In my Gallery there is an Album with a PDF of the colour options that shows the new colours, albeit in print, I have some pics of the Kaikoura but the red seems to have varying versions attributed to it, hence why I didn't want to risk it.
Not sure how to link to a gallery item, but you should find it by clicking the gallery button below.
New colours are 5th and 8th from the left in the top pic - pdf will be better.

Cheers Steve
I have just spoken to the dealer (yes, he gets in early on a Monday) and have provisionally ordered in Kaikoura Stone as I reckon that it'll stay cleaner looking longer. He wasn't sure if the colour would be available before 1 Jan 15 so is getting back to me this morning.
On the SE Tech, the wheels look as though t hey have wheel trims on so have ordered the 10 spoke which I persuaded the dealer to throw in "gratis". (I expect that he's still laughing kitbags at his profit level but these pyrrhic victories help to make the car buying experience memorable ).Never take life too seriously. I think it is just the new Yulong White that is out in January... I have an October build date so I think Kaikoura is available now along with the new red.
Yes small victories in the scheme of it all, hoping to negotiate with dealer on bike rack and rear load space rubber mat as have a dog. He steered me away from the guards/dividers and the fixed load space bases as they make off the cuff seven up an issue, with the rubber mat you can 'apparently' roll it to clear the third row.

Kaikoura Stone looks a really 8) colour good choice I went for the even more exclusive and strictly limited edition £1500 quid option 'Luxor' still don't know if I like it on the D4 but it looks good on the FFRROn a mission to find the perfect Pork Pie. Just Found it (I think)..(Yes I have)

I think Kaikoura Stone is a good option. I like the dark green too but it seems to show water marks and dust badly. I really liked the red but just kept hearing the Postman Pat tune in my head...
I have a Merc E class in basically the same colour as KS (the dealer had a small sample panel by the way) and it is a good compromise as far as not showing dust. Admittedly I should wash it more ....
Anyway, it's a Disco and they're gorgeous in all colours Roll on Sept 26th

Oh wow not long to wait for you then!
Have to post some pics when you get it, would be good to see non media centre pics of the colour.
Yep my D1 was Aintree green, lovely but showed water marks and dust all too easily. Yes regular cleaning was a must.Steve

I'm glad that I read this thread now. "Whadamistakatomaka" had I gone for Aintree Green.
LR Vista (their ordering system) was "down" yesterday. Hopefully it'll be "up" today and my spec will be lodged. Delivery estimated 27 Oct at the dealers so I should be sitting pretty on 1 Nov.
The reason for the short waiting time is that my dealer had ordered two D4's as part of their slot allocation and I'm guessing that they were either cancelled by clients or were intended to be showroom demos. Hence the rush to get the spec changed in a short time. Build date is 13 Oct apparently so it seems that LR's system needs about 5-6 weeks lead time to digest an order. How the computer age slows things down.
Give the dealer his due. For the second time in buying a D4, the deal has been done over the phone. Didn't want to see the existing car and doesn't want a deposit.

Bill, so that is the magic formulae then - six weeks order lead time and 14 days to build and deliver to dealer?
Have been trying to figure out the actual build time one to help with hiring a car when I return to the uk to plug the gap to the new car.
Yes the dealer said it would 'look' cleaner longer than the darker colours, although I think it is a reasonably darker colour than some of the others available.
