MY16 road tax band

My MY16 registration document has just arrived and gives the g/km as 0.191.

This puts the road tax at £265!

Surprising.

The car is fantastic btw.

It's the same band as the old one despite the CO2 being a fair bit lower. It might help when the bands change though with the new budget.

I think 191 puts it in a band lower than MY14 and 15.

The only way the new budget will effect us is if you buy a 40k + car after april 2017, then you have to pay £320 a year extra, why you may ask? Cos you're rich, simple as that haha, not that you work your Censored off for it like

A rough calculation suggests an improvement from 249 g/km for my 2009 D3 to 191 g/km for your MY16 D4 equates to an increase in fuel efficiency from 32 mpg to 41 mpg. Driving carefully, I can get 33 mpg. I'd love to hear whether you can achieve 41. Thumbs Up

It would be marvellous if it were only 191g/km CO2! Unfortunately, the current figure, ipublished by LR, Is 203g.

LR do indeed still publish 203 but the registration document definitely says 191, which is right? I'd go for the dvla document!

Well, 203 g/km equates to 39 mpg. Is it achieved in practice Question

Now that's interesting. Neither is right of course, the true figure is likely to be a lot higher!

However, I would have expected it to go on what's on the V5 document and that should put it into a VED band that is one group lower than 203g. I shall look out for that on renewal....

Another budget change is the introduction of a first year tax rate of £1,200 for cars in the 191 - 225kg bracket, as well as the £310 per year 'supplement' for the first five years.
