Do the rear windows open?

I’m intrigued as to what makes it a commercial.

This what has always confused me, my mates 110 defender with the van back but normal second row seats is a commercial and I’m pretty sure the windows work why can’t the Disco be like that?

Looks smart Glynne Thumbs Up

I think to be a commercial from factory its got to have a 1 ton payload with the seats in use, the new defender fails on this point where as the old defender passed, By adding the rear seat as a conversion the seat is classed as occasional use, if you were to fit original LR seats that is where the tax man gets funny and would want you to pay the larger tax class, i have had discussions regarding this with the tax man. Also the big thing is the V5 reg doc states 2 seats so insurance is void if carrying more unless it has had a conversion and the insurance are made aware.

Is the D5 restricted to lower commercial vehicle speed limits? Like a Transit or some Ranger pick-ups etc?

Technically yes, although I’ve never had a problem going with the flow. Gone through many cameras etc at 70 in (commercial 60 limits) and never picked a ticket up🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

As a “car derived” van, you’re subject to normal car speed limits 👍
 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

"car derived vans" have certain limits to meet/not exceed to be CDV's. Weight being one of them.

Not if the gross vehicle weight is over 2000kg. So it works with fiesta and corsa vans, not with a discovery.
