would a MY2018 SDV6 (306DT) (Gen3) fit in 2012 (Gen2)

hi all

looking at a newer build SDV6 (306DT) motor (MY2018) to go into my MY2012. Advice given is there may be differences and won't work..

Any advice here from someone that has done this or has experience
