Welcome David
Phone HiQ in Menlyn, no one in PTA has been able to beat their pricing when it comes to D3 tyres, they stock for LR Menlyn. They quoted me less than that price for 18" BFG's 2007 TDV6 SE auto (ex Write off)

DavidD3,
I would suggest the following :
1) Proper recovery equipment.
2) Puncture repair kit.
3) A base plate of sorts for your jack, to stop it disappearing into the sand.
NB : The LR jack is crap but can still work.
4) Shovel.
5) Compressor to pump up tires.
6) Tire pressure gauge.
7) A descent wheel nut spanner.( look at the LR one and judge for yourself )
8 A convoy radio.
9) First aid kit and emergency water ration. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

Thanks for the advice,
Hls I may take you up on those rods if I don't come right.
Trying to source some BFG 260/70/17 AT's for the sand. Hopefully they don't rub too much.
Will be looking for a decent jack stand. Not planning on a swheel carrier,
But getting the spare out in the dunes could be interesting. Eu spec Jack might also get an upgrade.
Scary what flimsy stuff is standard for a 4x4.
Snorkel any good and what make?
If I have time will try make a decent draw system. Will have a few cold ones and contemplate the
time/reward curve with this. Spare wheel access could be an issue
Again many thanks,
David

You can use the 265/65/17 Bridgestone Dueler AT's which
I have had on now for 2 years and done all sorts of trips
with hls can back me up on how they do in
the mountains in Ohrigstad and had them down to 0.8
bar in the river beds in Tule. As for snorkles, there are
only 2 I know of, LR one, is only a raised air intake and
not water proof, then the Safari one, which is a proper
water proof snorkel, just a matter of preference really.
I fitted the LR one, it just looked better and there is no
way you can fully use the water proof type to its full
potential because of the exposed electronics behind
the battery box, not that I haven't pushed it passed
the limits D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

The D4 snorkel is just that with new a proper replacement waterproof pipe on the inside, like the Safari kit. On my to get list.
The BFG's will be fine, with minor rubbing.
Keep the overall weight down on dunes, if possible.
Keep the cool ones but discard other unrequired weight. 8)
A belly plate to replace the front tupperware in front of the recovery point. The Mantec, non-which plate, is good. I ripped the plasic thing off while on dunes.
The jrods is a great idea, the car won't sit on its a s going up a heavy dune, keep it on "normal" and all is well.
Discoeast's kit list is
What is going to keep the cool ones cool? Super essential kit.
