Just acquired one of these for my D2. Am I correct in thinking that I can use this on my D4 with an additional license?

Yep
I've done the same, originally bought for my D2 then I purchased the D4 (CANBUS) licence when I changed cars Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem
