Need to start modding my V8 |
|
Some Help...
I kept it a "virgin" since I got it, not do the same as the previous Disco. It has nothing and is still stock standard. The previous D3 had all the looking bits, but some less functional. I now want to concetrate on more functional and performance.
I need advise on the following:
1. Supercharger for the 4.4. Can a Supercharger be fitted as a straight bolt-on solution, without having to drop the compression ratio,or does the motor need to be opened? Would a Jag or RR supercharger be a straight bolt on? Does the ECU need to be modded as well?
2. Has anyone on the forum done this, or researched it? Cannot find anything.
3. Performance exhaust? With the normal aestmatic breathing of LR, what options are there, and what experiences. It should not hamper the off-road ability in any way, but sort out the breating and back pressure issues.
Any advise appreciated. Why is the fear of long words called hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?

I'm fairly sure the Supercharged engine in the RRS and RRV is a different engine altogether and certainly would be a different ECU set up; probably all chance of finding a "wrecked" unit - which at a price would certainly be able to be retrofitted. I'd try Sprintex (google) as they did a heap of work here in Perth on P38 RR's - supercharging them- so they might have some ideas re adding one to the 4.4. Barbagallo are their Installation agents I believe - so they ought to know if a D3 can be "blown".

I understand the engine block of the 4.4 NA and the 4.2 S/C are the same casting, but just about everything else is different, not sure if anyone has researched it any further.
TFC (10forcash) knows plenty of how the various computers talk to each other, and I don't think it is a simple software job to get them working together whatever you change. Craig

If you're really bored and looking for a challenge - might I suggest removing half your brain and then rehabilitating yourself from there . Much less pain and effort
